Automobil Lamborghini S.p.A is one of the world's most famous luxury car automakers. Founded in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy on 30th October 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini as Automobil Ferruccio Lamborghini S.p.A.
Lamborghini started the company with the aim of producing a refined grand touring car to offer competition to the established marques like Italian rival Ferrari. When he first drove a Ferrari he complained of frustrating clutch issues which prompted him to do something about it, and nowadays the company he began employs almost 1000 workers, and saw their annual revenue grow from €322 million in 2011 to €469 million in 2012, and made a profit in 2011 of €24 million.
Lamboghini's was an independent company, before being taken over by its current parent company AUDI AG, and the highest number of cars they have ever sold in one year is 2580.
The first ever Lamborghini was the 350GTV from the company's first year of production, 1963, but the record for the fastest ever Lambo goes to the Murcielago R-GT, which has a top speed of 370kmph.
In late 2013, Lamborghini finally revealed the replacement for the Gallardo, as the Hurracan which will be released in 2014. This car will boast a 0-60mph time of 3.2 seconds, 602 brake horse power and a 5.2 litre V10 engine.
